Diana is an ordinary woman that decides that she deserves better. She should be Queen of her own realm. So that’s exactly what Diana does. She declares her home completely independent from the Italian State, and naturally, she will be the Monarch, while her lovable rag-tag tribe of family and friends will become her ‘people’.

Naturally, the results are a comedic pandemonium. They’ll have to create a constitution, choose a language, figure out laws and most importantly, the entire family will learn about the responsibility that comes with ‘great’ power.

God Save the Queen is an unashamedly feel-good comedy that takes a little story and allows us to reflect on big-picture issues.

A film that is charming, philosophical and humble.

There are films that attract attention for the originality of the starting idea, and this directed by Andres Arce Maldonado belongs with certainty to the category.
