2025 | 97 min | Comedy, Romance | Italy | Italian with English subtitles
CAST | Edoardo Leo, Pilar Fogliati, Emanuela Fanelli, Maria Chiara Giannetta, Claudia Pandolfi, Vittoria Puccini, Marco Giallini
Somebody to Love has swept over 2.5million moviegoers off their feet to become Italy’s #1 box office hit of 2025.
The film chronicles a first date between philosophy professor, Piero (Edoardo Leo), and talented furniture restorer, Lara Pilar Fogliati). The brilliant twist is that the film is populated by a chorus of personified emotions in their heads. A Greek chorus (or, in this case, an Italian chorus) of emotions. Over the course of the evening, they must content with competing inner motivations, instincts, logic, romance, lust, impulse, desire etc, each depicted by a hilarious cast. It’s a perfect setup for revealing the inner debates, turbulence and trepidation experienced in romance.
It is a delightful game where we’re privy to their hidden quirks, insecurities, desires and secret hopes.
A fresh, crowd-pleasing and highly entertaining new take on the comedy romance.
Can I say it? … a perfect date-night film.
Hilarious. A comedy with a touch of class and a sense of observation of humans grappling with their emotions and postures. Unmissable.
